To see is itself a creative act." Mahaffey's formal education includes a BFA from the Memphis Academy of Art (Memphis College of Art), MFA from Memphis State (University of Memphis), study at the Art Institute of Chicago, the McDowell School of Design in New York, the Textile High School in New York City, and the Vassar Summer Institute. Her work has been shown in Tennessee, Virginia, Arkansas, New York, North Carolina and Delaware.
Mahaffey's creations of art only begin with the camera. They are completed in the darkroom. "The camera is a remarkable tool, but it is the eye that creates. I am so pleased to be part of this show."
Mahaffey's work can also be purchased from Durden Gallery in Memphis & Southside in Oxford MS. She is a 2005 Woman of Achievement recipient for Initiative.
