Celebrate the holidays with a healthy approach to eating.
Make room for common sense and balance at your holiday table and you can have
your cake and eat it, too.
- Be intentional in your food choices. Replace worry about overindulgence with a
commitment to honor your healthy lifestyle during the holidays. A wonderful gift to you!
- Avoid the "all or nothing" mentality. Small
servings can satisfy.
- It’s OK to skip the healthy foods just to eat the
dessert…once in a while!
- Limit the homemade goodies. Choose one recipe to share with
friends, family and coworkers.
- Make your serving sizes small. Cookies, bars, candies and
crackers can all be made bite-size.
- Keep low-calorie treats on hand. Flavored (unsweetened)
teas, waters and coffees served with bite-sized cookies and nibbles are very
satisfying.
- When you're bringing the food, choose lighter fare. You
won't be the only one who'll be glad to have a healthier option.
- And, finally, remember - it's not about the
food. It's really about the simple pleasures of being with those we care for.
